Bunbury Carnival – Long weekend 4th to 6th June 2022
Registrations are now open and will close on the 14th May 2022. For those ordering Bunbury Shirts, registration required by the 7th May 2022.
"I had a great time playing hockey with my mates and having fun with all the teams playing games and chatting back at the club house. "
We are planning to participate in the Bunbury Carnival again this year. For many junior players this is the highlight of their hockey season – an opportunity to get away with friends, sleep in the accommodation with teammates and play hockey all weekend, interspersed with other events. Buses and accommodation have been booked.
We are keen for the players to spend the weekend with their team in the accommodation we have arranged. They will have a fantastic time.
The plan is;
- Travel to Bunbury early Saturday morning 4th June by bus. Many games start from 8am so the bus meeting time of 5:30am is essential.
- Return mid afternoon Monday 6th June either via your own car or by ride sharing with another familiy if your child needs a lift.
- Accommodation at the adjacent Soccer Club (for the J5/6 and J7/8 players), which is right beside the playing fields and the Scout Hall (for the J9/10 players), which is a short bus ride away. We have hired a small 22 seater bus for transport for the J9/10 players. The Soccer Club is used as a UWAHC home base for all UWAHC players during the Carnival.
- Breakfast and dinner provided each day. Players will just need enough money for lunches and drinks - there are lots of food van options at the Carnival.
- All players might like to bring bathers and towel for a visit to the indoor swim centre (walking distance from the fields). This is usually organised by managers in suitable gaps between games.
- J9/10 players will also need money for a suggested movie night on the Sunday night.
Each team is expected to play about 4 games per day with finals from late morning on the Monday.
As many didn't want to return by bus last year, there will be a bus going down to Bunbury but not back. Please let us know when registering if you either need a lift back to Perth with another family in their car OR are willing to offer a space (or spaces) for a player in your car.
If your child has any special dietary requirements please let us know with your registration.
For each team we need the following parent involvement so please register your preference when you register your child.
- Team Coach
- Team Umpire
- Two parents from each team to stay in the accommodation with the children on one or both nights. We need two parents from each team. Male players and their parents sleep one side of the hall, females, the other side.
- Parents to help on a morning or night with food service and general tidy up.
- Parents to help with tidying up and packing down the Soccer Club/Scout Hall on the Monday morning (between your child's games).
- A couple of parents with a license that enables them to drive the 22 seater bus as required.
Any parent helpers that stay overnight will need complete a Working With Children check, which provides cover for three years. If you are staying overnight, please indicate on the registration form your current WWC number if you have one, or specify "none" so that we can give you the appropriate papers to apply for one. If you have any queries or concerns about this aspect, please don't hesitate to contact us.
We have a Bunbury shirt used as an alternative playing strip. This is purchased by putting in "code" 2022BunburyShirt". Note for 2021 Bunbury players, this is the same one as last year so you do not need to purchase another one, just make sure you bring it along!
Cancellation Policy – As we are required to pay suppliers, cancellations after the 21st May 2022 will only get a 50% refund of fees; unless you find a replacement player, in which case we will provide a full refund.
