Hi Everyone
We have an update for you for hockey running over the summer months.
The first and most obvious is our Summer Hockey held on a Thursday night in Term 4 and Term 1 2023. This competition has been an overwhelming success for over many years and demands for this are ever increasing.
It's coming to a stage where we may have to run the competition over two weeknights, which is a huge possibility. This may also be due to turf replacement on Turf 1, so please keep looking up on the news and social media pages for the latest information on this.
The other programs we are running are for players who play in the senior grades and Masters looking to maintain their skills and develop new ones.
In addition to this, we also provide an opportunity to our senior league and UWA Associate coaches to work alongside and assist our Director of Hockey in delivering these sessions. All programs listed below will be lead by Trid Woodhouse, our Director of Hockey.
In 2022/23 summer, the UWA Hockey club will be offering a series of programs for all hockey levels within the senior divisions and Masters teams.
Due to start in Term 4, the club will run a series of skill development and game sense drilling sessions to maintain and improve your skills up over the summer.
Coaching Workshop
We are offering a Coaching workshop for all senior coaches, men and women who require assistance in preparing teams for finals.
The workshop will be held Monday 1st August at 6.30pm. You can register online here.
During this session we will cover all aspects of team preparation including training drills designed to enhance better team play, communication and understanding.

This program is ideally for parents or people wanting to learn hockey because their kids play and might want to give it a try.

Specialist Goal Scoring/ Goal Keeping Program
The Goal scoring, Goal keeping clinic is a concept developed by our Director of Hockey, Trid Woodhouse several years ago. It enables both Goal scorers and goal keepers to better understand each other, but allows multiple scoring and saving opportunities for both critical postions on the field. During these sessions repetition, technique, decision making and shot/save selection are the main areas of focus. Both positions will likely be shooting or saving over 500 balls in a session. You can only get better with repetitive practise.
Registrations will open shortly, once dates are finalised. Keep your eye on the events page to see when this opens. Click here to go to events page.
All programs will run for approximately eight weeks in Term 4 this year and 8 weeks in Term 1 2023.
We look forward to seeing you there.
